The Radio Pembrokeshire Young Achiever Awards are back for 2017!
This year’s awards ceremony will be held at Folly Farm on Friday 17th November and will recognise and reward special young people in our community that truly make a difference through business, training, education, the arts or voluntary work.
We all know someone who has done something special that deserves recognition. The Pembrokeshire Young Achiever Awards allow us to shine a light on inspirational young people in a range of categories.
Nominations have now CLOSED and our judges certainly have their work cut out for them…
Achievement in Education
This award aims to recognise the educational achievement of an individual within Primary School, Secondary School or Further Education who has demonstrated growth, improvement, commitment or intellectual development. This award is to acknowledge and individual who has shown outstanding passion, ambition and energy throughout any level of school.
The Inspiration Award – Sponsored by Pembroke Power Station
Our county is full of inspirational young people and this year’s new award category gives listeners the opportunity to tell us about the remarkable individuals they know. This award celebrates the achievements of one special individual who stands out as a role model and through good deeds and strength of character, inspires others.
Young Community Group Award
This award is to recognise and celebrate the positive and often unnoticed work of a Young Community Group in our county. Nominated groups, clubs and organisations must be fully constituted and must operate within Pembrokeshire. This award is to acknowledge the provision of excellent and innovative services, projects and experiences for our community.
Young Carer of the Year – Sponsored by Value Independence
This award is to celebrate the hard work and sheer strength of young carers in Pembrokeshire. A young carer is an individual who provides regular care and/or emotional support for a family member or loved one. We want to recognise an unpaid, unsung carer who goes above and beyond to help care for others.
Sports Star of the Year
This award recognises the achievements of a local sports star, club or team who has achieved something significant in the world of sport at a local or national level. This award acknowledges performances of the highest quality from an inspirational sportsperson.
Young Fundraiser of the Year – Sponsored by Kiln Park
This award recognises the outstanding initiatives and innovative fundraising efforts in Pembrokeshire. We want to pay tribute to a special person or a group whose efforts to raise money for charity and good causes has really made a difference.
Young Business Person of the Year – Sponsored by Futureworks
This award applies to individuals that are either enjoying success in building their own business which has evolved from an entrepreneurial approach, or to those employees that have had an outstanding impact in contributing to the successes of an organisation in our county. This award recognises a young business person who has demonstrated hard work and persistence to gain achievements.
Commitment to the Environment Award – Sponsored by Puffin Produce
This award is for an individual or group of people, irrespective of size, who work to positively contribute to our environment, demonstrating excellence in innovation in their commitment to the environment. The award celebrates young people who have stimulated ideas about sustainability and the environment in their community, sharing solutions and identifying strategies for change in the future.
Young Volunteer of the Year – Sponsored by MIND Pembrokeshire
This award is for a special individual or group who makes a real difference to their area or to the lives of others by going that extra mile in their volunteering. The winner of this award will have shown enthusiasm, hard work and dedication to the volunteering that they do.
Outstanding Courage/Bravery Award – Sponsored by Brooklands & Caldey Grange Carehome
This award applies to children under the age of 16 who have demonstrated exceptional courage or bravery. They may have battled against all odds to overcome challenges or shown sheer strength and determination through a difficult time. This award is to ensure their courage and bravery is acknowledged and celebrated.
Young Apprentice of the Year – Sponsored by Prp Training Ltd
This award acknowledges achievement and excellence in apprentices who have made exceptional contribution to their workplace. We seek to recognise and celebrate the county’s brightest young apprentice by presenting them with this award.
Pembrokeshire Young Achiever Award

This award will be presented by the event’s main sponsor. It will be awarded to a winner from one of the other categories who we feel deserves extra special recognition.
